Staff Training:

Level of care support staff at your facility are educators and models of appropriate interactions for their program participants.  Their involvement is critical to the development of a successful approach to this vital area of human expression. This staff-training module provokes self-awareness and serves as a catalyst for change when needed. 

Topics covered in the staff training module include:

  • the right to privacy and appropriate expression of sexuality of people with special needs
  • values clarification
  • overview of human sexual development and sexual health issues
  • recognizing problematic and deviant sexual expression
  • promoting healthy boundaries between staff and program participants
  • modeling appropriate interactions
  • techniques to reinforce sexual abuse avoidance
