Parent Workshop:

Parents and family are the first sexuality educators for their children.  Parents bring important knowledge and values to the discussion of the relationships and sexual expression of their child. This workshop is designed to offer parents and families a forum for discussion of the multi-modality approach necessary for the sexuality education of the child with special needs.

Topics covered include:

  • overview of educational materials and curriculum
  • issues of autonomy and the right to consent
  • what to teach according to developmental level
  • promoting safe and healthy relationships
  • reducing vulnerability to exploitation and abuse
